Christmas Revenge
Anthony Morence

To the Dads on Christmas Day
From all your daughters and/or sons
Gratitude is what they shall pay
Even though they know not what youve done.

For when they were young
There wasnt much for you to do
Toys came all but pieces of one
And complications were few.

As your children age away
The latest toys are admired
They smile at you and then say
Some assembly required?

For when they were young

There wasnt much for you to do

Toys came all in pieces of one

And complications were few

As your children age away

The latest toys are admired

They smile at you and then say

Some assembly required?

The three words you have feared

Have come from your little one

At the present you leered

And say Ill let you know when Im done

Off you go with tools in hand

You find the directions and say

Whats written here is from another land

And that this is going to take all day

You dont need the directions anyway

You can figure this out by yourself

Folding flap c and use part a

You build it better than anyone else

To your child you bring the gift

With your hands cut and bruised

The gratitude goes to anyone but you

Now comes the feeling of just being used

But you see your child full of joy

You smile and think to your self

Next time there is an unassembled toy

Give it to that jolly old elf

Gratitude from your child is rare

And often is misplaced

You think that its only fare

To get even a different time and place

When your children have children of their own

You visit on Christmas day is inspired in ways

As you hear the feared words you have known

Now its their turn to assemble the gifts these days

So to parents that work for a childs smile

Thank you for all that youve done

This Christmas gift may have taken awhile

Sweet revenge you have won

Merry Christmas!! For when they were young
There wasnt much for you to do
Toys came all but pieces of one
And complications were few.

As your children age away
The latest toys are admired
They smile at you and then say
Some assembly required?
