The Lament Of The Disgruntled Elves

by
Leo Mullan

We`ve been toiling all year
For that geezer in red.
We don`t get much pay
And we`re only half-fed.

He expects us to work
All day and all night,
With only one tea-break,
It just isn`t right.

In his freezing cold workshop
We make all the toys
For those giggling girls
And ungrateful boys.

We feed the reindeer
And fill up the sacks.
We polish the sleigh
And pay too much tax.

He gets all the glory,
The love and the fame
And every Christmas
It`s always the same.

He sits in his grotto
And laughs Ho ! Ho! Ho !
Do we get any praise ?
No ! No ! No ! No !

On Boxing Day
We`ll down our tools ;
We`ll have our Christmas,
We`re not fools.

We`ll demand a rise,
For freedom we`ll fight.
Elves of the World
Unite ! Unite !
